Youth (6th-12th grade)
Hurstbourne has a variety of opportunities for our youth.
Sunday School: 9:30-10:30am. During this time, the youth spend time in discussion and fellowship. They learn about the Bible, its origins, and our beliefs about what the scripture tells us.
Sunday Youth Group: 11:45am-2pm. Every other Sunday youth stay after church for fun, fellowship, and community building, where the group grows closer together by focusing on friendships. We start off with a quick lunch then follow up by some group faith building activities.
Mission trip: Each year mission trips provide youth the opportunity to put their faith into action and learn the importance of helping others. In 2020 the youth mission trip will be to the Bahamas!
Summer Camp: Each summer, the Disciples churches in KY offer age-appropriate camps for elementary, middle, and high school students. Our youth attend Camp Wakon Da-Ho.
CYF Seminar: A mobile classroom experience offered to high school students . The group travels to NYC and Washington DC to experience different cultures and religions.
Youth are full members of our church and therefore participate in each part of worship, with many reading scripture or prayers during service.
Once a year, youth lead the entirety of the worship service. During this Sunday they are responsible for planning and leading the worship preparing the theme, songs, prayers, and even the message.
